Has the PGWP Eligible Field of Study List Changed in March 2026?

No. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has officially frozen the list of eligible fields for the entirety of 2026. No programs will be added or removed before 2027, providing students with much-needed stability for their planning.

Which Sectors Are Priority for College Graduates?

For graduates of college or non-university programs, your study program must be linked to one of these 5 key sectors:

  • Healthcare.
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
  • Skilled Trades (Construction, Electrical, Welding).
  • Transport and Logistics.
  • Agriculture and Agri-food.

I am a Bachelor’s Graduate; Am I Limited by This List?

No. Holders of Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees are exempt from field-of-study restrictions. You remain eligible for a PGWP regardless of your major.

What Language Score (CLB) is Required in 2026?

As of late 2024, proof of language proficiency is mandatory for the PGWP:

  • University Graduates: Minimum CLB 7.
  • College Graduates: Minimum CLB 5.

Which English Tests are Accepted?

You must provide results from a recognized test taken in person:

  • CELPIP General.
  • IELTS General Training.
